Out & about with The SHOUT: Raymer Society Auction
Going once, going twice... a year to the Raymer Society Auction in Lindsborg, Kansas!
Julian Azcary Montes takes us to the Raymer Society Auction in Lindsborg Kansas. Held in person twice a year at Trinity United Methodist Church, 224 S. Main St. in Lindsborg, the event is a great way to add to your art collection and discover the work of Kansas artists.
The consignment auction benefits the Red Barn Studio Museum, the studio and home of Kansas artist Lester Raymer — another reason to plan a trip to Lindsborg.
Azcary Montes spoke with Emily Howe, the director of The Red Barn Studio Museum, and Emily Christensen, The SHOUT's managing editor and Raymer-Society-Auction enthusiast.
"If you feel nervous or like an art auction might not be for you, I think this is an extremely good first experience. As far as I know, there's nothing else like it in Kansas," Christensen said.

The next auction is set to begin on Tuesday, October 20. More details about upcoming auctions and other events, as well as information about The Red Barn Studio Museum, can be found on their website.
Though the next in-person Raymer Society auction will happen this fall, the organization hosted an online auction 1 p.m. last Saturday, August 1. Interested parties registered and placed bids online for any of the 147 lots.
One — a Birger Sandzén oil painting — is estimated at more than $25,000; on last Thursday evening, it was already north of $18,000. By the end of bidding on Saturday, the painting sold for double its estimation at $50,750. However, many lots sold for less than $100.
