Interested in a tarot card reading? Or maybe a new vintage picnic basket? If you said “yes” to either, this Saturday’s Gloom and Bloom Spring Oddities Market may have what you’re looking for.
The event is part of a relatively new monthly series of art-focused markets hosted by Ghoulish Gatherings, which bills itself as "local events for the strange, weird and unusual." Co-owners Koji T. Liby and James Deckard choose a different theme each month and select participants for their unique qualities. Some of their favorite vendors this Saturday include bookbinder Gemma’s Books, harm-reduction group Safe Streets Wichita, and the intriguingly named Christina’s Cadaverous Creations. That should give you a hint to the eclectic mix that has become a trademark of Ghoulish Gatherings markets.
A variety of folk-adjacent and indie singer-songwriters such as Madi Laughlin, Paris Jane and Handpan Dan will play during the Gloom and Bloom Spring Oddities Market, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. this Saturday (April 19) at Nomar International Market, 2200 N. Market St. in north Wichita.
