Wichita's Orpheum Theatre reopening will be 'Legend'-ary
Midwest native and EGOT club member John Legend will perform at the Orpheum on August 30.
John Legend will perform a reopening concert August 30 at Wichita's Orpheum Theatre, the organization announced in a press conference this morning.
The historic theater has been closed since June 2025 for an extensive $13 million renovation. The Legend concert will be the first opportunity for Orpheum ticket-buyers to see the newly restored space.
Legend is one of 19 performers to EGOT — the R&B singer/songwriter and pianist has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. Orpheum board secretary Naomi Shapiro pointed out during the press conference that he has also been named People’s “sexiest man alive.”
The concert is sponsored by the Grumpy Old Men, a Wichita social and philanthropic organization. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24. Learn more about upcoming performances on the Orpheum's website.
