Shane Carter is the new executive direction of The Kansas African American Museum, the organization announced on Thursday. Carter has led the Lincoln Community Center in Troy, Ohio, for the past 13 years. TKAAM has a big year ahead: the museum plans to move from its current location in the historic Calvary Baptist Church building, 601 N. Water St., to the former Sunflower Bank building at 201 N. Main St.
Amy Williams, who served in an interim role at TKAAM after Denise Sherman’s departure, is headed to the Kansas Leadership Center.
On Friday, The Arts Council announced the appointment of Connie Bonfy as its first executive director. Bonfy, who was honored with a legacy award at this year's Kansas Governor's Art Awards, has worked with major arts and educational organizations in central and south-central Kansas. She will "lead the Council’s strategic planning, fundraising, and public engagement efforts in partnership with its board of directors," the Wichita-based organization stated in a press release.
Hanna Bothner is the new development associate for Music Theatre Wichita, the organization announced last week. In the past, Bothner has held roles at the Tallgrass Film Association and the Orpheum Theatre.
