A special show on Saturday at Flying Pig Improv will add singing to the "already scary high wire" of improv theater, said Jessie Gray, the theater's founder.

The performance is the result of an "out-of-the-blue" call from Michael Gottlieb, a musician who has worked with Washington Improv Theater in D.C. During a trip to Wichita to visit family he spied the Flying Pig sign and picked up the phone.

The ensuing conversation led to a series of rehearsals with Gottlieb on piano as he coached the improv troupe on how to add melody and lyrics to their storytelling.

"I think the audience will be amazed that a group of six performers taking a suggestion from the audience can create a miniature musical right before their eyes that never existed before and never will again," Gottlieb said.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. Saturday show are $16.95 online or $15 at the door. The Flying Pig is located at 2320 E. Douglas Ave. just west of Grove Street. Both parking and the entrance are located behind the building.
